Innokin Zenith D22 with Plexus mesh coil

Finally a tank that works perfectly for ecig users. This tank is aimed at MTL (Mouth to Lung) users mainly.

Innokin have really gone the extra mile together with P Busardo and the Vaping Greek. Initially this tank was released with a 24mm diameter which in many ways did not serve well MTL users as us MTL users tend to use smaller mods as the batteries do not drain as quick as Lung inhale users also know as DL (Direct Lung). So eventually Innokin came up with the new Zenith D22 which is smaller and fits 99% of batteries these days.

The tank is perfectly balanced. Due to the innovative fill mechanism which is extremely easy to use plus when you open the tank to refill through the top part, it automatically shuts the liquid flow so when you close the filling port after refilling you will not get this nasty gurgling.

Changing the coil is also a very easy operation. Just unscrew the tank at the bottom and just pull the coil (no twisting or unscrewing of the coil anymore) No cross threading or any of these pitfalls that you may have encountered in the past.

The use of the new Plexus mesh coil is yet another first for an MTL tank and works a treat. Mesh coils tend to last longer and disperse the liquid through the coil more evenly resulting in a more consistent flavour and certainly mesh coils last longer than the usual standard coils.

For your information....I do not get sent mods, tanks free for reviews. I actually buy the stuff and then give my opinions accordingly with no bias as i don't owe anyone any favours.

I have been in the vaping industry for many years (8yrs or so) so i have a wealth of experience in vaping. I can honestly say that the Innokin Zenith D22 tank is one of the best if not the best MTL tanks around these days. Even better than its bigger brother the 24mm one mainly because of the size.

You can see the difference between the 2 types of coils in this image.

What is subohm vaping?

What is subohm vaping?

Vaping in general has been around for a good 6-7 years and everyone was happy with the way things were.
Since around 12 months ago or so. New vaping mods, batteries and atomizer ,have surfaced on the market which essentially give more vapour and to some a better vaping experience.

Subohm vaping is very different than the usual vaping that most vapers know. Basically what us vapers do is take a drag, inhale, take the usual dose of nicotine then exhale as you use a normal analogue cigarette.

The first difference in subohm vaping (one of many) is in the way you inhale. With a usual electronic cigarette vapourette, you do what is called mouth to lung inhale. You take a puff / drag, then inhale the vapour, then exhale.
With subohm vaping you do what is called a lung inhale which is a direct inhale straight to the lung. Shisha / hookah users will be familiar with this technique.
If you are going to use a subohm atomizer, you also have to use a liquid with a lower nicotine content. Usually from 3m up to 12mg at the most. The reason being is that with love inhale the nicotine hit is a lot stronger compared with mouth to lung inhale.

Vaping at subohm also requires a different type of battery and atomizer. Usually much bigger than the batteries and atomisers we use for standard shall vaping.

The atomizer itself is different. Bigger and can absorb more liquid too to evaporate a larger quantity. Subohm atomizer operate at higher temperatures too which is measured in watts rather than volts.
When subohm vaping was first introduced, you could use both voltage and wattage, but these days it's all measured in watts. Bear in mind also that with a subohm atomizer, you will be using more liquid than you would with a standard atomizer.

As for batteries, also known as mods, they are again bigger than the standard Ecig ones be it straight voltage manual or even variable voltage / wattage one. The reason being is....subohm atomizers need a lot more power to function properly than standard atomizers hence a bigger sized battery. Subohm atomizers drain more power out of the battery as well.
Subohm vaping starts at 30watts and goes all the way to 200watts these days. As they become more popular, chances are the wattage will even go higher.

There is nothing quite a variety of subohm devices today so you will be spilt for choice. From a fairly decent small size to some really boxy bulky ones and / or anything in between.
My advice to you is always go for a branded type such as eleaf istick, Joyetech, Aspire, Smok, Innokin, Kanger. There are also cheaper ones on the market but you have to take your chances if you so wish. Usually with cheaper ones, you will almost definitely find that it leaks, gives a burnt taste, etc...

In conclusion. Subohm vaping is not for everyone even though it is gaining popularity. You got to love it and enjoy the tonnes of vapour these mods produce as opposed to the standard ecigs.

If you are switching to Ecigs as a means to end and to just substitute the analogue cigarette, the I would suggest to stay with the standard Ecigs (battery and atomizer)

Innokin iclear 30 atomizer / clearomizer

The Innokin iclear 30 is a new addition to the clearomizer range available on the market today. It is larger than your standard CE4, eGo-C, eGo-T etc... atomizers so it fitsl and looks slightly better on a larger Mod or electronic cigarette. However you can have a plinth or adapter that hooks on to an ego battery that will make it look more streamlined.

Innokin iclear 30

The Innokin iclear 30 has a dual coil. 2 coils sitting almost on top of each other which gives a fantastic throat hit and vapour with a resistance of 2.2ohms which is more than adequate for all electronic cigarettes and mods.
Bear in mind that the amount of vapour is very dependant on the type of liquid you use and where you get it from but still with a dual coil you will get a very decent amount of vapour regardless. Having an inferior e-liquid will shorten the life of the atomizer no doubt and so will the VG content of the liquid. The more VG (Vegetable Glycerine) you have in the mixture, the more carbon will accumulate on the coils which will decrease its life.
Having said that, i personally use a 70/30 mix (70% PG to 30% VG). PG tends to give a better throat hit or kick while VG gives more vapour. The majority of liquids are 70/30 but some people prefer 50/50 and others due to an allergy to PG can only use VG only.

Innokin iclear 30 anatomy

Innokin are a very reputable company in the electronic cigarette business. They have been around for a number of years so you know when you buy an Innokin product, it will work very well. You will always get the odd one that will malfunction like any other. Even Joyetech with all their knowledge will still have the odd one that will not work or dead on arrival also know as (DOA).

The build quality of the iclear30 is of a high standard as you can see from the photos. The coil heads have 16 wicks so no way you will get a dry throat hit of an i30. There's plenty of wicks there to feed the 2 coils permanently even on low liquid in the tank.
Another feature is the swivel mouthpiece which helps sometimes depending on the vaping position so to speak.
The iclear 30 clearomizer has a 3ml e-liquid capacity which is plenty for a whole day vape for an average vaper. Incidentally the average consumption of e-liquid on a daily basis is around 3ml.

Innokin iclear 30 clearomizer

The Innokin iclear 30 has replacement heads as spares which means when the clearomizer dies, you do not have to buy a whole new unit. All you need is change the heads.
The heads last on average 3 weeks. Again that depends on how often it is being used. Persoanlly i change it every 3 weeks or thereabouts.

The replacement heads can be recoiled but it is not an easy thing to as a standard CE4 or even a Vivi or Mini Nova. One of the main reasons is that the bottom of the head is recessed so pulling it isn't so easy plus the fact that there are 2 coils doesn't make things any easier. If any of the wires touch, the i30 won't work.
The replacement heads aren't that expensive. At £3.99 from vapourettes is a good price.
The Innokin iclear 30 is certainly a worthy option for a serious vaper or someone who is looking for a good amount of vapour, throat hit and above all no dreaded burnt taste and leakage.
